In a shocking incident in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, a young man, along with his friend, has been accused of murdering his girlfriend. The police have apprehended two suspects following an encounter, during which one officer sustained injuries.

Details of the Murder Case

Investigation Update: The police have made significant progress in the Priyanka Raikwar murder case. Authorities revealed that the victim was killed after her boyfriend learned that she was to be married to someone else. Following the revelation of their relationship, the boyfriend's wife had also left him.

The body of the young woman was discovered in the woods of Subhash Nagar on April 14, causing widespread alarm. The deceased was identified as Priyanka Raikwar, who was scheduled to marry on July 8. The post-mortem report confirmed that she had been strangled. Her family filed a complaint against two young men, alleging their involvement in the murder.

Confrontation with Police

The police launched a manhunt for the suspects. During a routine check on the Dahra Road, the two suspects arrived on a motorcycle. When stopped by the police, they opened fire, prompting the officers to return fire.

In the exchange, Inspector Manish Pandey was grazed by a bullet, resulting in minor injuries, while both suspects were shot in the legs. This encounter occurred late Tuesday night, around 1:09 AM, and the injured were subsequently taken to the district hospital.

Domestic Turmoil and Motive

SP Shashank Singh reported that the accused, Sumit Singh, had been in a relationship with the victim. However, after Sumit got married, his wife discovered the affair, leading to domestic strife that resulted in her leaving him.

Sumit, distressed by the news of his girlfriend's impending marriage to another man, lured her under the pretense of a conversation and ultimately strangled her with a scarf.

Evidence and Ongoing Investigation

It has been reported that the victim left her home alone after 2 AM. When her family woke up, they found her missing. After searching, they discovered her body approximately 300 meters from their home, near a hill. The victim's face bore signs of injury, and her eyes were not visible.

The police recovered several items from the suspects, including the victim's mobile phone, three additional phones, a motorcycle, and two firearms along with cartridges. Further investigations are underway.
