Peshawar: A tragic explosion of a mortar shell in a civilian neighborhood of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, has resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals and left 13 others injured, according to police reports.
The explosion occurred in the Durrani Banda region of Hangu district during a police operation targeting terrorists who had launched mortar shells into the populated area on Thursday, as stated by a police spokesperson.
Among the deceased were minors and young adults, while the injured included women, children, and elderly individuals.
Victims were transported to a local hospital in Hangu for medical care, with six of the critically injured being transferred to facilities in Kohat.
The police operation against the terrorists has been ongoing for the past 48 hours in the Zargari, Shnawari, and Durrani Banda regions.
This incident has plunged the local community into mourning, with residents expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life.
