Missile Attack in Beit Shemesh
Jerusalem: A missile strike on a residential building in Beit Shemesh, located approximately 35 kilometers from Jerusalem, resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals, according to rescue services on Sunday.
This incident raises the total number of fatalities in Israel due to Iranian missile attacks since Saturday to a minimum of nine.
The missile hit a residential neighborhood, leading to significant destruction of a public bomb shelter and nearby residences.
Rescue teams reported that two individuals, including a young girl, are in critical condition.
Additionally, around 20 others sustained injuries ranging from light to moderate, including a four-year-old boy who was moderately hurt, as stated by Israel's Magen David Adom emergency service.
Firefighters are currently conducting searches for any individuals who might be trapped under debris.
Several dozen homes in the vicinity of the targeted building also suffered damage.
In response to the escalating situation, Israel and the United States initiated joint strikes against Iran early Saturday. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an airstrike in Tehran on the same day.
Since the commencement of this operation, Israel has faced a barrage of missile attacks.
