Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh: A horrifying incident has emerged from Kannauj district, where a love marriage that took place 11 years ago has ended tragically. Reports indicate that a husband allegedly bound his wife to a chair, doused her in petrol, and set her on fire, resulting in her death. When the police arrived at the scene, the victim's body was severely charred.

Dispute Over Love Affair

According to reports, Sukbeer Singh, a resident of Jagatpur village in Chhibramau, married Sonam in a love marriage approximately 11 years ago, and the couple has two children. It has been reported that Sonam developed a romantic relationship with a local youth and expressed her desire to leave her husband for him.

Two days prior to the incident, a panchayat was convened at the Sikanderpur police station, where both parties were summoned in an attempt to mediate the situation. During this meeting, it was said that Sonam agreed to stay with her husband instead of her lover.

Escalation of Conflict Post-Panchayat

Following the panchayat, it was reported that the same evening, Sonam's lover ingested poison. His condition deteriorated, and he was admitted to a local clinic, where he was treated and survived.

The next day, another dispute reportedly arose between the husband and wife. Allegations suggest that during this argument, the husband bound his wife to a chair, poured petrol on her, and ignited the flames.

Police Investigation Underway

Neighbors heard the commotion and rushed to the scene, subsequently notifying the police. However, by the time law enforcement arrived, the woman's body had already been extensively burned. Reports indicate that the husband and other family members have since fled the area.

The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder, the panchayat agreement, and all related aspects of the case.
