Fatal Incident in Coimbatore

Aseem Koraliyadan, a former footballer known for his participation in the Santosh Trophy, tragically passed away at the age of 40 due to a road accident in Coimbatore early this morning. Originally from Puthalam in Areekode, Malappuram district, Aseem was employed as a Customs officer at Coimbatore International Airport and was en route to work when the incident occurred.

A Distinguished Football Journey

Aseem had a commendable career in domestic football, representing the Kerala Under-21 team and competing for Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu in the Santosh Trophy. His impressive resume also includes stints with notable clubs such as Vasco Goa, Salgaocar Goa, Mumbai FC, Mahindra United, and East Bengal. Over nine seasons in the I-League, he gained recognition for his speed and offensive playing style.

Tributes and Farewell

In the wake of his passing, numerous sports figures and community members have shared their condolences. Sporting Club Kerala (SCK) took to Instagram to express their sorrow over Aseem's death, offering thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. They stated, "Sporting Club Kerala joins the football fraternity in mourning the loss of prominent Indian National Footballer and Customs Inspector Aseem Koraliyadan. Following the post-mortem, Aseem's body will be returned to his home in Areekode for final rites, allowing the public to pay their respects. He was the twin brother of well-known footballer and coach Anees Korlayadan.
