Rijon Jose, a 29-year-old footballer from Calicut FC, tragically lost his life in a road accident late Sunday night near Christian College on the Gandhi Road flyover in Kozhikode. He was riding a motorcycle with fellow player Ghani Ahmed Nigam when their vehicle collided with another motorcycle around 10:30 PM. Both athletes were quickly transported to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, but Rijon unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at approximately 12:15 AM IST. Rijon hailed from Thrissur, while Nigam, who also plays for Keralam in the Santosh Trophy, is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries.
