Heartbreaking Case in Kurukshetra

A shocking incident has emerged from Kurukshetra, where a couple tragically hanged their three-year-old daughter on her birthday before taking their own lives. Prior to their deaths, they sent a message to the brother-in-law stating, 'We are committing suicide... please take care of our mother.'

This distressing event occurred in the Prem Nagar area of Kurukshetra on a Monday. The couple, identified as Jatinder Kumar (30) and Yukta (28), were reportedly overwhelmed by their daughter's illness. Their daughter, Advika, was suffering from cerebral hypoxia, and the day marked her birthday.

Before taking this drastic step, Jatinder sent a WhatsApp message to his brother-in-law with a timer set. The message indicated their intention to end their lives and included details about the locked room and where the key could be found. Upon receiving the message, the brother-in-law rushed to the couple's home with his wife.

When the police arrived and opened the door, they were met with a horrifying scene. The little girl was hanging from a hook in the ceiling, while her parents were found hanging on either side of her.

DSP Sunil Kumar reported that the family did not file any complaints. The suicide note, which spanned ten pages, cited the daughter's severe illness as the reason for their mental distress. After the investigation, the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Prior to their deaths, the couple had removed the ceiling fan and chandelier to hang themselves.

Jatinder was employed in the railway postal service, and his father had recently passed away after retiring as an ASI from the Punjab Police. The family now consists only of Jatinder's mother, Bimla Devi, and his brother, Prateek, who resides in Canada with his family.

According to the DSP, the couple had been writing the suicide note for two days, as evidenced by the different handwriting and timestamps on the pages. The notes expressed their pain, despair over their daughter's condition, love for their family, and apologies.

Advika's condition, cerebral hypoxia, prevents the brain from receiving enough oxygen, leading to physical and mental disabilities. This can result in seizures, developmental delays, and difficulties with speech and vision. In severe cases, treatment is not possible.

Forensic expert Dr. Naresh Saini, who conducted the post-mortem, noted that the mother was the last to hang herself. The child's body was less rigid compared to her father's, suggesting she was asleep when she was hanged. All three died due to hanging.
