Tragic Incident: NEET Aspirant's Suicide Shakes Delhi Community
A Heartbreaking Loss in Delhi
New Delhi: A tragic event unfolded in northwest Delhi's Azadpur, where a 20-year-old student preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam reportedly took her own life at home, according to police reports on Friday.
Family members of the deceased transported her body to a crematorium without notifying the authorities, as stated by a senior police official.
Investigators revealed that no suicide note was discovered at the scene, leaving the reasons for her drastic action unclear.
"The individual was an aspiring NEET candidate. We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. No suicide note has been located during our inquiries," the officer remarked.
On a related note, the National Testing Agency (NTA) recently annulled the NEET exam conducted on May 3 due to allegations of a paper leak, with a re-examination set for June 21.
A call to the Adarsh Nagar police station on Thursday alerted them that a woman's body had been brought to the Kewal Park Shamshan Ghat for cremation without prior police notification.
Upon arrival, police confirmed that the deceased resided in Lal Bagh, Azadpur.
Further investigation indicated that the woman had allegedly taken her life earlier that day. Her family, claiming ignorance of the legal procedures in such situations, proceeded directly to the crematorium for her last rites without informing the police, the officer explained.
The body has since been moved to the mortuary at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A forensic team has also visited the residence to gather evidence and assess the situation.
