Tragic Incident: LAPD Shoots Pet Dog During NBA Celebration
A Celebration Turns into a Nightmare
In Los Angeles, a woman's enthusiastic cheering for the NBA finals led to a devastating incident involving her pet. Marie Marseille was reportedly celebrating the New York Knicks' victory over the San Antonio Spurs on June 13 when the police received a call about her 'screaming' from her apartment. Upon arrival, officers mistakenly interpreted her excitement as a distress call, resulting in a tragic outcome.
As the police approached her home in the Canoga Park area, they heard her dog barking and instructed her to secure the pet. However, when Marseille opened the door, her two-year-old golden Saint Bernard doodle, named Jameson, bolted out towards the officers. In a shocking turn of events, one officer fired four shots at the dog, leading to its death. Body-camera footage captured the moment, showing the dog wearing a blue Knicks jersey before it collapsed on the floor.
Following the incident, videos of Marseille mourning her pet have circulated widely on social media. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has since spoken with the officer involved, Jim McDonnell, and confirmed that an investigation is underway. The released footage has been edited to blur the faces of the officers involved.
