Tragic Incident in Thane: Man Arrested for Murder of Young Girl
Details of the Disturbing Crime
In a shocking incident in Thane district, Maharashtra, a man who was previously on the run for the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl has now been arrested for the alleged sexual assault and murder of a seven-year-old girl. Authorities reported this development on Saturday.
According to police officials, the 33-year-old suspect was apprehended in connection with the crime that took place in Bhiwandi city on October 1, a Wednesday. It is alleged that he raped the young girl, strangled her to death, and then concealed her body in a sack before fleeing the scene.
The officer revealed that the suspect was preparing to escape to Madhubani in Bihar when he was captured by the police that same night. The victim had gone outside to use the restroom, and when she did not return for an extended period, her parents began searching for her.
During their search, the parents discovered a small bucket outside the suspect's home, which the girl had taken with her. The police then forced entry into the suspect's residence, where they found the girl's body inside a sack.
The officer further disclosed that the suspect had previously committed a similar crime in 2023, where he raped and murdered another six-year-old girl. After that incident, he was arrested and held at Thane Central Jail.
He managed to escape from police custody in August while being taken to court for a hearing. Local authorities have filed charges against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
