Shocking Crime in Kailash Hills

The upscale area of Kailash Hills in South Delhi is currently shaken by a horrifying incident that has left the Delhi police stunned. A 22-year-old student, the daughter of a government official, has been the victim of a brutal rape and murder, prompting authorities to accelerate their investigation. On Friday, police crime and forensic teams recreated the crime scene to uncover the escape routes used by the suspect, Rahul Meena.

Profile of the Suspect Rahul Meena

Rahul Meena, a 23-year-old originally from Alwar, Rajasthan, is presently in police custody for four days. Investigations reveal that he had a gambling addiction linked to mobile phone usage, which led him to accumulate debts of approximately ₹700,000. Authorities are now interrogating his family members in Alwar and Gurugram to understand his behavior and the circumstances surrounding his debts.

Details of the Incident

In a significant development, investigators have recovered the victim's mobile phone, which the suspect had stolen during the attack. Police reported that Meena discarded the phone near a park in East of Kailash's Garhi village. According to police, the victim was home alone on Wednesday morning when Meena entered using a spare key card. He managed to reach the floor where she was studying. When she refused to give him money, he assaulted her, leading to her death during the attack. Her parents later discovered her body. Meena was apprehended the same day at a hotel in Dwarka.

Hotel Manager's Account

A conversation with the hotel manager revealed, "I remember him. He came to book a room, claiming to be from Alwar and in Delhi for work. He seemed calm and friendly, and I had no idea he was capable of such a horrific crime. He apologized for not having ID and provided his Aadhaar number, paying ₹1,500 in cash before heading to his room. Around 4 PM, police arrived and began questioning him. I was terrified to learn he had committed such a heinous act against an innocent girl."

Suspect's Actions Post-Crime

After allegedly committing the murder, Meena rented a cab to Dwarka, discarding the victim's phone before leaving. He also had another phone, which he turned off shortly after. A senior police officer stated, "At the hotel, he ordered a T-shirt and some food online. He will soon be taken for a recreation of the crime scene to determine how he entered unnoticed and attacked the victim. We have also taken him for a potency test, which is part of the legal process."

Further Investigations

Police noted that Meena had introduced himself as Rahul Kumar to the hotel staff. Based on the interrogation, the investigation team plans to subject him to a psychoanalysis test. An officer mentioned, "Often, individuals show no remorse for their actions. When he stated he wanted to repay his debts and attacked the woman because she refused to listen to him, he appeared calm and indifferent. This test will analyze his behavioral patterns and mental health status."

Evidence Collected

After the attack, Meena changed his pants and shoes, wearing the victim's brother's clothing. Police reported that they recovered blood-stained clothes belonging to Meena, along with the victim's brother's pants, shoes, and bag. Investigators are also set to question the suspect's family members.

Police Actions in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan police have confirmed that Meena's father and five other relatives have been detained for questioning. Following their interrogation, they will be handed over to the Delhi police for further investigation. Meena was remanded to four days of police custody on Thursday.
