In a shocking incident in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, a father accused of raping his minor daughter took his own life while in police custody. Following the incident, the deceased's family visited the police station, alleging harassment from the in-laws and claiming that a false case had been filed against him. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.

Details of the Incident

The tragic event unfolded late Wednesday night at the Namli police station, where the 38-year-old father had been detained after his 16-year-old daughter filed a rape complaint against him. According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kishore Patanwala, the father was found hanging from a pipe connected to the toilet early Thursday morning. He reportedly used his pajama string to commit suicide.

CCTV Footage Reveals Timeline

CCTV footage showed the accused sitting in the police station until around 3 AM. When the duty officer checked the footage at approximately 4 AM, he discovered the man hanging. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that he had taken his life using a water pipe and his clothing. The body was subsequently examined at the scene before being sent for post-mortem at Ratlam Medical College.

Family's Allegations

In the aftermath of the incident, the deceased's family accused the in-laws of harassment and claimed that the rape allegation was fabricated. They stated that the father had previously lodged a complaint against the in-laws, which led to his daughter filing the FIR in collaboration with her mother.

Police Inquiry Continues

The deceased's mother and sister have also leveled accusations of mental harassment against his wife, daughter, and brother-in-law. The police have summoned them for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation into the case.
