Incident Overview

In a heartbreaking event in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, a 35-year-old woman reportedly set herself and her two children on fire following a domestic dispute. This information was confirmed by local police on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday night in the village of Saredi, located in the Kamkheda area. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar, the woman, identified as Ranjita Sahu, allegedly committed suicide along with her four-year-old son, Swastik, and her two-year-old daughter, Sanvi.

Following a physical altercation between Ranjita and her husband, Anil Sahu, police took him into custody. Kumar noted that Ranjita had called the emergency helpline 112 after a dispute with her husband around midnight. Responding to the call, the Kamkheda police arrived at the scene and detained Anil Sahu for disturbing the peace.

Details of the Incident

Within an hour of Anil's detention, police received another call reporting a fire in their one-room house. Upon arrival, officers broke down the door and discovered all three family members severely burned.

They were rushed to the community health center in Aklera, where doctors pronounced them dead. Preliminary investigations suggest that Ranjita, in a fit of despair and anger, ignited bedding and clothes in the room.

Earlier that night, she had reportedly attempted to throw herself and her children in front of a vehicle on the road, but local villagers intervened and sent her back home.

Ranjita, originally from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, had been married to fruit vendor Anil Sahu for approximately seven years. Sunil Verma, the station in charge of Kamkheda, mentioned that Ranjita's family arrived in the village on Friday and did not place any blame on her husband.

The police have stated that the bodies have been handed over to the family following a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered under the relevant sections, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
