Bride's Murder Hours Before Wedding

In a shocking incident in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, a young woman was allegedly killed by her fiancé just an hour before their wedding. According to police reports, the tragic event occurred at the couple's home during a dispute over a saree and money.

Police Deputy Superintendent R.R. Singhal stated that despite family opposition, the couple had been living together for about a year and a half. Their engagement had taken place, and most wedding rituals were completed. However, just before the ceremony, a heated argument erupted over the saree and finances.

In a fit of rage, the accused, Sajan Baraiya, attacked the victim, Sony Himmat Rathod, with a metal pipe and then struck her head against the wall. Before fleeing the scene, he also vandalized the house. A police team arrived promptly to assess the situation.

Deputy Superintendent Singhal confirmed, "They had been living together against their family's wishes. They were set to marry the next day, but a dispute over a saree and money led to this tragic outcome."

Investigation Underway Following the Incident

Following the incident, the victim's body has been sent for autopsy, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. Reports indicate that the accused had also been involved in a dispute with a neighbor on the same day, leading to a police complaint against him. A separate complaint regarding the murder has also been filed.
