Incident Unfolds Before Their Son
In the Khajni area of Gorakhpur district, a man brutally murdered his wife using an axe and a shovel. The couple's son was present during the horrific act and managed to escape to save his life.

Motivation Behind the Crime
Ashok Nishad (44), a resident of Dhadhupar village, allegedly killed his wife Neelam Devi (40) late Tuesday night. Reports suggest that the couple had been embroiled in disputes for a long time, with Ashok suspecting Neelam of having an extramarital affair.

Son's Attempt to Intervene
Seventeen-year-old Suraj, the victim's son, recounted that he was asleep in his room when he heard his mother's screams. Rushing to the scene, he witnessed his father attacking his mother with an axe. Following this, Ashok used a shovel to sever Neelam's throat, resulting in her immediate death.

Assault on the Son
Suraj stated that when he raised an alarm, his father turned on him with the shovel. He narrowly escaped and fled to his maternal grandfather, Rajendra Nishad, to inform him of the incident. Subsequently, villagers and the police were alerted.

History of Domestic Disputes
According to family members, Ashok previously worked as a carpenter in Mumbai but had been living in the village for the past few years, engaging in farming and animal husbandry. During this time, he developed a drinking problem, which frequently led to conflicts at home.
