Accidental Shooting Claims Life of Security Personnel


Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh): A member of the District Reserve Guard tragically lost his life due to an accidental discharge of a firearm in Narayanpur district on Sunday, according to police reports.


The incident took place at the Kadenar camp in the morning as a group of security personnel returned from a forest operation aimed at area domination in the Naxalite-affected region of Chhotedongar police station, an official stated.


This operation had commenced the previous day.


Upon arriving at the camp in the early hours, a weapon accidentally fired while the personnel were getting into a vehicle.


The bullet hit Constable Baldev Singh Hurra, aged 33, near the head, causing critical injuries. He was swiftly transported to Dhaudai hospital, where initial treatment was administered, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries due to severe blood loss, the official reported.


Authorities have yet to confirm whether the firearm that discharged accidentally belonged to the deceased or one of his fellow officers.


The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is currently ongoing.
