On August 4, a distressing event unfolded in Nagaon district, Assam, where a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer fatally shot two of his colleagues and injured another before taking his own life. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7 AM at the 34 Battalion camp in Katimari, where Assistant Sub-Inspector Ballani Premabaram was on duty at the main gate.

Following the shooting, the officer reportedly turned the weapon on himself. Police Deputy Superintendent Paramita Sarkar confirmed that two personnel, Constable Vishnu Prasad Baghel and Sub-Inspector Ramnawal Singh Yadav, died at the scene.

Additionally, another CRPF member, ASI Govind Shripul, sustained injuries and was initially taken to a private hospital before being referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.
