Tragic Incident: Four Teens Drown in Sharda River in Uttar Pradesh

A tragic incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district when four teenagers drowned in the Sharda River while swimming near a construction site. The boys, aged between 13 and 17, had initially visited the site of the Deber Ghat bridge before deciding to take a swim. Rescue operations are currently in progress, with two bodies recovered and search efforts ongoing for the other two. This unfortunate event highlights the dangers associated with swimming in unmonitored areas.
 

Four Teenagers Drown While Swimming in Sharda River

On Friday, four teenagers from a village in Lakhimpur Kheri district tragically drowned in the Sharda River while swimming near the under-construction Deber Ghat bridge in the neighboring Sitapur district, as reported by a local administrative official.


The boys have been identified as Avinash (17), Utkarsh (16), Devansh (16), and Rahul (13), all residents of Hasanpur Katai village in the Ishanagar police station area.


Rajesh Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Dhohra Tehsil in Kheri district, arrived at the scene to oversee the rescue operations alongside local police officials. He informed reporters that the bodies of Avinash and Utkarsh have been recovered.


Search efforts are currently underway for Rahul and Devansh. The SDM mentioned that personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) flood unit have been deployed to assist in the search. The four teenagers had initially gone to view the construction site of the bridge before deciding to swim in the river, leading to this unfortunate incident.
