Shocking Crime in Kanpur

In a horrifying incident in Kanpur, a father has been accused of deliberately murdering his twin daughters in a premeditated act. The crime took place between 1:50 AM and 3:35 AM, as captured by CCTV footage.

Everything seemed normal at the G-4 flat in Trimurti Apartments until around 11 PM on Saturday. The accused, Shashiranjan Mishra, had dinner with his wife Reshma, twin daughters Riddhi and Siddhi, and son Rudrav. After dinner, they all began watching television. Shortly after, Shashiranjan demanded that everyone turn off the TV and go to bed, but his family ignored him.

In a fit of rage, Shashiranjan threatened to beat everyone. Eventually, the family went to their rooms. It was during this time that he brutally murdered his daughters. The entire incident was recorded by the CCTV cameras installed in the flat, as confirmed by Inspector Bahadur Singh from Naubasta police station.

The footage revealed that when Shashiranjan asked to turn off the TV, the girls insisted on watching cartoons. In response, he promised to take them to the movies the following day. However, when the TV remained on, he became furious.

After the murder, Reshma took their son Rudrav to their room, while the daughters went to their father’s bedroom. CCTV footage shows Shashiranjan speaking to the girls for a while before turning off the lights. He then committed the heinous act.

During police questioning, Shashiranjan revealed that he targeted Siddhi first because she was healthier and might resist if he attempted to harm Riddhi first. He strangled Siddhi before cutting her throat.

Afterward, he quietly sat on the bed. When Riddhi woke up to go to the bathroom, he took her with him. Reshma noticed this but couldn’t see clearly due to the lights being off. Once Riddhi fell back asleep, he killed her as well.

Two years prior, Shashiranjan had attempted to murder Reshma with a knife. She reported that he was aggressive and had attacked her twice before, but she narrowly escaped. Despite her complaints to the police, no action was taken against him.

Reshma stated that their relationship was strained, and although Shashiranjan provided for the family, they had separate bedrooms. The daughters were particularly attached to their father, often sleeping in his room, while their son stayed with Reshma.

Five days before the murders, Shashiranjan purchased a machete for 500 rupees, planning the crime in advance. He concealed the weapon in his bag to avoid raising suspicion with Reshma.

Shashiranjan had previously plotted to kill his daughters but had hesitated. After dinner, when the girls insisted on watching TV, he became angry and threatened them, leading to the tragic events that followed.

Inspector Bahadur Singh confirmed that the entire incident was recorded by the CCTV cameras, which captured the timeline of events leading to the murders.
