Madison Square Garden expressed their condolences, while the band Goose shared their heartbreak over the event. Despite the tragedy, the concert continued, leading to criticism from some fans. Goose is set to perform again as part of their Summer 2026 tour.
 

Concertgoer Identified After Fatal Fall


A tragic incident unfolded during a Goose concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City, resulting in the death of 51-year-old Paul Kueker. The New York Police Department reported that the accident took place just before 10 p.m. on Saturday while the band was performing at the renowned venue. Kueker sustained severe injuries after falling from an elevated area within the arena.


Upon arrival, officers discovered Kueker unconscious and unresponsive, exhibiting injuries consistent with a fall. He was rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was later declared dead. According to police sources, Kueker fell from the 300 level of the arena, but the circumstances surrounding the fall are still under investigation.


In a statement to CBS News New York, Madison Square Garden expressed their sorrow, stating, "While we await the police report on the tragedy at last night's Goose concert, we are deeply saddened by the loss of a fan's life at Madison Square Garden. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the concertgoer." Social media posts showed venue staff clearing sections of seats and cordoning off the area with police tape following the incident.


Goose Band Responds to the Incident

The Connecticut-based rock band Goose expressed their devastation over the tragic event. In an Instagram statement, they said, "We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight's show. We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support."


Despite the incident, the band completed their full 16-song set and concluded the concert before midnight. It remains uncertain if the band members were aware of the emergency during their performance. Some fans criticized the decision to continue the show, questioning why the concert and its Amazon Music livestream were not stopped after the incident.


Goose is scheduled to perform again on Sunday night at SummerStage in Central Park as part of their Summer 2026 tour, which includes 27 concerts across 19 cities in the United States and Canada.
