Pratapgarh, Aug 6: In a heartbreaking incident, six family members lost their lives, and one was injured when a nearly century-old house collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the Mahuli area of Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district early Thursday morning.

The victims included a couple, their son, daughter-in-law, and two young children.
Aman Srivastava, the sole survivor, shared his harrowing experience with reporters. "When I regained consciousness, I found myself buried under the rubble. I managed to escape and realized my family was trapped. I attempted to rescue them but was unsuccessful, so I called for help. Neighbors and relatives quickly gathered. All seven of us were in the same room: my parents, younger brother, wife, and our two children. I was saved, but they all perished," he recounted.
Poonam Srivastava, a neighbor, confirmed that the entire family was asleep when the roof collapsed. "The upper floor's debris fell onto the lower floor, trapping everyone inside while they slept. Seven family members were in the house; one was rescued alive, while six, including two children, lost their lives," she stated.
