Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Life of Andhra Pradesh Police Officer

Amaravati, July 14: A police head constable tragically lost his life in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred early in the morning when an unidentified vehicle struck the head constable while he was jogging on a flyover along the national highway.
Identified as Varaprasad Reddy, aged 43, he was a dedicated member of the second battalion of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP). The impact caused him to fall onto the road beneath the flyover, where he succumbed to his injuries instantly.
Authorities reported that the accident took place near Bellari Chowrasta, and the body was subsequently transported to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Government Response
Vangalapudi Anitha, the State Home Minister, expressed her sorrow over the loss of the head constable, emphasizing the pain of losing a dedicated officer in the line of duty. She extended her condolences to Reddy's family and assured them of the government's support during this difficult time.
The minister has instructed officials to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and to take necessary actions regarding the accident.
Home Minister Anitha also offered prayers for the peace of Varaprasad Reddy's soul and strength for his grieving family.
Recent Incidents
This incident marks the second fatality of a police officer in road accidents within a span of three days in the state. On July 12, a police constable was killed, and three others were injured when a car lost control in Prakasam district.
The accident occurred in Ongole town on the bypass road, where the driver of the car struck a constable riding a bicycle, resulting in critical injuries that led to his immediate death.
Following the collision with the bicycle, the car crashed into an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler, causing minor injuries to three additional individuals.
