Rescue Operations Underway

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Hemant Tiwari stated that many residents were trapped inside due to thick smoke filling the building, prompting a coordinated rescue operation. Eight individuals were safely evacuated and transported to Safdarjung Hospital and AIIMS Trauma Center for medical care. Among the deceased are a 22-year-old man and two women. The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that the condition of the two injured individuals remains critical as they continue to receive medical attention.

Possible Cause of the Fire

Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit on the ground floor of the building. Following the short circuit, the flames spread rapidly, causing smoke to reach the upper floors, leading to this catastrophic incident.
