Prime Minister Modi Responds to Malviya Nagar Fire Incident


New Delhi: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow regarding the tragic fire incident that occurred in Malviya Nagar, resulting in significant loss of life. He announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of each victim and Rs 50,000 for those who sustained injuries.


The devastating fire erupted at a bed and breakfast hotel in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar, claiming the lives of at least 21 individuals.


Reports indicate that several victims were foreign nationals, primarily from Central Asia and Africa, according to officials.


In a message shared on X, Modi expressed, "The loss of lives due to a fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi is tragic. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected."


The Prime Minister confirmed that the ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh would be sourced from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the families of the deceased, along with Rs 50,000 for the injured.
