A tragic fire in a residential building near Palam Metro Station in Delhi has led to the deaths of seven individuals, with many others injured. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, prompting a swift response from the Delhi Fire Service, which dispatched 30 fire engines to the scene. Firefighters faced significant challenges due to narrow access and heavy smoke. Ongoing rescue operations are being supported by local police, as officials confirm that around a dozen people were trapped inside the building at the time of the fire. The situation remains critical as efforts continue to ensure the safety of all residents.
 

Devastating Incident in Southwest Delhi

A significant tragedy unfolded in the southwest region of Delhi on Wednesday morning when a fierce fire broke out in a multi-story residential building near Palam Metro Station. This unfortunate incident resulted in the loss of seven lives, with several others sustaining serious injuries. According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the fire was reported around 7:00 AM in a residential structure located on Street Number 2 of Shri Ram Chowk, close to the metro station. The flames rapidly engulfed the entire building, trapping many residents inside.


Firefighting Efforts Underway

Upon receiving the alert, 30 fire engines were dispatched to the scene for rescue and relief operations. Firefighters faced significant challenges in reaching those trapped due to the narrow alley and thick smoke.


Official Statements from Police and Administration

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Amit Goyal confirmed that approximately a dozen individuals were inside the building when the fire erupted. He stated, "The firefighting and rescue operations are still ongoing. Delhi police personnel are working alongside firefighters to safely evacuate individuals and manage the situation." Goyal further mentioned that the fire brigade was actively attempting to rescue those trapped within the building.
