Tragic Family Suicide in Karnataka Before Wedding Day
Heartbreaking Incident in Mysuru District
A tragic event unfolded in Mysuru district, Karnataka, where the joy of a wedding turned into sorrow. Just a day before her wedding, a 21-year-old bride-to-be and her parents reportedly took their own lives by consuming poison. The incident is believed to have stemmed from social stigma and mental harassment. In response, local authorities swiftly arrested a young man accused of harassing the family and pressuring them into this devastating act.
Details of the Incident
According to officials, the family left behind a suicide note accusing a local individual, Ullas Gowda, of severe mental harassment and spreading false rumors about the bride after her engagement was arranged with someone else. The note indicated that Ullas had been pressuring the parents to marry their daughter to him instead.
Circumstances Leading to the Tragedy
The incident occurred in the village of Kempyana Hundi, located in the Varuna assembly constituency. The bodies of Shivanna, his wife Nagarathna, and their daughter Rakshita were discovered after they allegedly ingested poison. The suicide note implicated Ullas Gowda, accusing him of causing mental distress to the family.
Police investigations revealed that Ullas had been harassing Rakshita and exerting pressure on her to marry him, despite her prior engagement. Allegations surfaced that he spread false claims about having a relationship with her, which reached her fiancé and his family.
Legal Actions Taken
Authorities suspect that the family's fear of social disgrace and damage to their reputation contributed to their tragic decision. The suicide note reportedly mentioned that Ullas had sent messages to Rakshita's fiancé, making false claims about their relationship.
Based on the contents of the suicide note and preliminary investigations, Ullas Gowda was arrested under the Indian Penal Code for inciting suicide. A team from the T Narasipura police station has initiated an investigation, collecting evidence including the suicide note and digital records related to the incident.
