Tragic Family Dispute Leads to Fatal Stabbing in Bareilly
Shocking Incident in Bareilly District
A deeply disturbing incident has emerged from Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, where a woman allegedly stabbed her nephew to death. This tragic event occurred in the Bhuta police station area of the village of Mudi Khurdakala, stemming from a long-standing dispute over ancestral land.
The victim, 28-year-old Umakant, had been embroiled in a conflict regarding the division of family property with his uncle Charan Pal and aunt Anita Devi. Reports indicate that on Saturday morning, another argument erupted between Anita and Umakant's family, although Umakant was not present at the time as he was working at a jute factory.
Upon returning home in the evening, Umakant encountered his aunt standing at her doorstep. Without warning, she launched a brutal knife attack on him.
Umakant had no chance to defend himself and collapsed on the ground, bleeding profusely. Neighbors and family members rushed to his aid, but despite being taken to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The news devastated his family, leaving them in deep mourning.
Forensic Investigation Underway
Following the incident, police from the Bhuta station, along with CO Faridpur Sandeep Singh and a forensic team, arrived at the scene. They cordoned off the area, and forensic experts meticulously collected blood samples, examined knife marks, and assessed the surrounding conditions. The body was subsequently sent for autopsy.
Umakant's relatives filed a complaint at the police station, naming Anita Devi as the suspect. The police acted swiftly, detaining her for questioning. During the interrogation, Anita confessed to the crime, revealing that the ongoing dispute over land had escalated to this tragic outcome despite multiple attempts at resolution through village councils.
Community Shocked by the Violence
The incident has sent shockwaves through the village of Mudi Khurdakala. Residents are in disbelief that a woman could commit such an act against her own nephew. Local elders noted that while disputes over property are common, it is unprecedented for someone to resort to murder within the family. Many women in the village expressed their concerns, stating they would no longer allow their children to visit the family involved.
