Tragic Explosion at Maharashtra Ammunition Factory Claims Lives
Fatal Incident at SBL Energy Limited
On Sunday, a devastating explosion at an ammunition factory in Nagpur district, Maharashtra, resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals and left 18 others injured, as reported by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The incident took place around 6:45 AM at the facility operated by SBL Energy Limited, located in Raulgaon village, according to local news sources.
This factory specializes in producing industrial explosives, including detonators and cartridges used for mining and infrastructure development.
At the time of the explosion, approximately 35 workers were present, supervised by two individuals.
Emergency response teams, including the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force, swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct search and rescue operations, as stated by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
The injured victims have been transported to hospitals in Nagpur for medical care.
He has pledged financial support of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and instructed the company to extend financial aid to all affected families.
“A comprehensive investigation into this incident has been ordered,” Fadnavis confirmed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the explosion, labeling it “deeply distressing,” and announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured, sourced from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
