Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Two Teenagers in Assam

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Hailakandi district, Assam, where two teenagers drowned while trying to retrieve a football from a canal. Abhinav Sinha, 13, and Arupam Sinha, 15, tragically lost their lives after entering the water. Despite rescue efforts from local residents, they could not be saved. The community is in mourning as they grapple with the loss of these young lives. Authorities have recovered the bodies for post-mortem examination, leaving the village in shock and sorrow.
 

Tragedy Strikes Hailakandi District

In an effort to recover the ball, both teenagers entered the canal, and reportedly ventured into a deeper section of the water body and drowned.


Hailakandi, May 29: A football match turned tragic in Assam's Hailakandi district on Thursday evening when two teenagers lost their lives in a canal while trying to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the water.


This unfortunate event took place in Chiporsangan Village Part-I, situated approximately 20 kilometers from Hailakandi town.


The victims have been named as Abhinav Sinha, aged 13, and Arupam Sinha, aged 15. Local reports indicate that the boys were engaged in a football game with friends in a nearby field when the ball accidentally rolled into the canal.


In their attempt to recover the ball, both teenagers entered the canal but unfortunately ventured into a deeper area and drowned.


Upon realizing the boys were in trouble, local residents and family members rushed to the scene to initiate rescue efforts. Sadly, despite their best attempts, the two teenagers could not be saved.


The incident has left the village in deep shock and mourning. Family and community members gathered at the site as the news of this tragedy spread, grappling with the loss of these young lives.


Abhinav Sinha was the son of Sukanta Sinha. The untimely passing of the teenagers has cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire community.


Authorities were notified about the incident, and the bodies were subsequently recovered and transported to SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi for post-mortem examinations.
