Satna, July 17: A nine-year-old boy, who had been reported missing from his village in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district, was tragically discovered deceased in a nearby forest approximately 24 hours later. Authorities suspect that a wild animal may have been responsible for the attack.

Search Efforts

The remains of Nitin Yadav, who lived in Pindra village under the jurisdiction of Majhgawan police station, were located in a wooded area on Thursday evening. This followed an extensive search operation that involved local police, the Forest Department, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Quick Response Force (QRF), Cyber Cell, and a canine unit.

Circumstances of Disappearance

According to police reports, Nitin, the son of Lallu Yadav, went missing around 5 p.m. on Wednesday after he left his home to play near a hand pump. When he failed to return, his family initiated a search throughout the village before alerting the authorities. Local residents also participated in the overnight search, but unfortunately, no signs of the boy were found.

Discovery of the Body

"An immediate search operation was initiated following the missing person report. Various teams, including those from the Forest Department and specialized search units, were mobilized, leading to the recovery of the boy's body approximately 500 meters from the village," a police spokesperson stated.

Condition of the Body

Authorities reported that the body was discovered in a severely mutilated state near a hill. The boy's head and lower body were found in different locations, and a section of his abdomen was missing. The remains have been sent for a post-mortem examination following the completion of inquest procedures.

Investigation and Speculations

The area where the body was located is known for its significant leopard population. Officials from the Forest Department suspect that the child may have fallen victim to a wild animal attack, although they emphasized that the precise cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem examination and a thorough investigation of the site.

"We are exploring all possibilities in this case. While initial observations indicate a potential wild animal attack, the definitive cause of death will be confirmed following the post-mortem report and forensic analysis. Ongoing investigations are in progress," the police officer informed reporters.
