Shocking Incident by the River

The bodies of a young couple were discovered along the banks of the Betwa River. The boy and girl were found intertwined, with foam coming from their mouths, and both had bags tied to their feet.

Children playing cricket nearby were the first to spot the bodies and raised an alarm. Local residents rushed to the scene, prompting a call to the police. Upon arrival, officers began their investigation and found cigarette butts at the site. The couple's sandals were also found placed together. Authorities suspect that the pair may have taken a poisonous substance to end their lives due to a romantic relationship.

Initially, police interviewed local residents, who confirmed that the couple did not belong to the area. Subsequently, the police circulated their photographs, leading to their identification within two hours. Family members arrived at the scene after being informed. They revealed that the two had been missing since Sunday evening.

The girl's brother shared that she was a student in her intermediate studies. He mentioned that they were two brothers and that Rimjhim was their only sister. Their father had passed away, and he could not provide further details. Meanwhile, Balakishan's father, Kashiram, stated that his son was uneducated and worked as a waiter in a hotel. Balakishan was engaged to a girl from the town of Jakhora, and they were supposed to attend a ceremony for her on Monday. He last spoke to his mother around 3 PM on Sunday, saying he was going to listen to a religious discourse, after which he did not return.

Kashiram further explained that he had four daughters and two sons, with Balakishan being the third child. The two older sisters were already married, and Balakishan's wedding was imminent. He expressed disbelief that his son would consume any substances, including tobacco, and questioned how cigarettes were found at the scene. He noted that the girl's house was only 100 meters away from theirs and was unaware of any relationship between them. The only information he had was that the girl his son was engaged to was someone he liked and had agreed to marry. They had prepared for the ceremony and brought all the necessary items.

Neighbors speculated that the couple may have taken this drastic step due to family disapproval of their relationship. After the post-mortem on Tuesday, the bodies were handed over to their families. Doctors reported no visible signs of injury on either body, suggesting poisoning as the likely cause of death. However, due to the unclear circumstances surrounding their deaths, samples were preserved for further examination.
