On July 29, a 27-year-old man from the Nuh district of Haryana tragically lost his life during a traditional rural circus act known as 'live burial.' According to police reports released on Wednesday, the performer was supposed to emerge from a sack after being sealed inside for three days.

Authorities stated that the individual, identified as Deepak from the village of Gounchi in Faridabad, had successfully completed this stunt multiple times before. However, this attempt ended in disaster due to an unforeseen complication. When his companions finally retrieved him from the sack, he was found unconscious.

In this dangerous act, Deepak was placed in a specially dug pit and covered with soil after being confined in a sack. A senior police official revealed that Deepak was lowered into the pit on July 23, where he ultimately succumbed to asphyxiation.

After being pulled from the pit, he was rushed to a hospital, but medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.

Deepak hailed from a family of traditional artists who traveled from village to village for performances. He had been participating in such events for approximately 15 years. The group was camped on an empty plot in the Khawri village of the Tahrdu area in Nuh district.

Before the live burial stunt, Deepak entertained the crowd with various bicycle tricks. His final act involved being placed in a sack and buried in the pit, which was then covered with dirt.

Inspector Rajesh Kumar from the Tahrdu police station indicated that preliminary investigations suggest asphyxiation under the soil as a likely cause of death, but a definitive conclusion will be drawn after the post-mortem report is received.

Akhil Pilani, the district commissioner of Nuh, remarked that such stunts are illegal and that the administration will investigate how this hazardous event was conducted without proper authorization.
