Investigation Launched into Suspicious Death

Guwahati/Bengaluru, Mar 28: Authorities in Bengaluru are investigating the suspicious death of a six-year-old girl from Assam, with initial inquiries suggesting possible abduction and murder.

The young victim, whose family are migrant workers, resided in a temporary shelter located near Vittasandra, within the jurisdiction of the Electronics City police.

Law enforcement has initiated a case under pertinent legal provisions, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and specialized teams have been assembled to track down those responsible.

According to police reports, the child was last seen playing outside her home on Thursday evening. After her disappearance, her family filed a missing person report the following day.

During a search operation, her remains were discovered in a eucalyptus grove in the Bolugudda region close to Electronics City.

A senior police official indicated that the circumstances surrounding her death are suspicious, prompting a thorough investigation into all potential leads.

Authorities have not dismissed the possibility of sexual assault, which will be confirmed following the post-mortem examination.

Investigators believe the child may have been kidnapped and murdered before her body was discarded in the secluded area. The precise cause of death remains undetermined.

Senior police officials visited the site after the body was found, and further inquiries are ongoing.

This incident has raised alarms, especially as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has voiced concerns regarding the increasing fatalities among Assamese youths working outside their home state.

This case follows a troubling trend of incidents involving Assamese migrant workers in Bengaluru. Just weeks ago, Zubin Nath, a 25-year-old from Barpathar in Bijni, reportedly died in an accident at a tile manufacturing facility after becoming trapped in machinery.

Earlier in January, four Assamese youths lost their lives in a labor shed, with suffocation suspected as the cause.

The recurrence of such tragedies has intensified concerns regarding the safety and working conditions of Assamese migrants employed outside their state.
