Pregnant Woman Dies After Long Trek for Medical Help

In a heartbreaking incident in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, a pregnant woman lost her life after walking six kilometers to seek medical assistance due to the absence of delivery facilities in her remote village. An official reported this unfortunate event on Friday.

The victim, 24-year-old Santosh Kiranga, a community health worker from Aladandi Tola in the Etapalli taluka, was nine months pregnant. The official explained that Kiranga, unable to access any delivery services in her village, attempted to reach her sister's home by traversing through the forest with her husband on January 1. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated during the journey.

On the morning of January 2, she began experiencing labor pains. An ambulance was called to transport her to Kali Ammal Hospital in Hedri. Although doctors opted for a cesarean section, it was too late; the baby had already died in utero. Due to rising blood pressure, the woman also passed away shortly after.
