Tragic Death of NEET Aspirant Sparks Outrage in Patna
Incident in Patna Raises Alarms
A shocking incident has emerged from the Munna Chowk area of Patna, Bihar, where a student preparing for the NEET examination was found dead under suspicious circumstances. The news of her death on Monday night led to widespread unrest throughout the city. The victim, originally from Jehanabad district, was residing in a hostel in Munna Chowk while studying for her medical entrance exams. Her body was discovered in the hostel, showing severe injuries on her head and body, prompting her family to suspect foul play.
Protests Erupt at Kargil Chowk
Upon learning of the tragic news, the victim's family and a large number of villagers rushed to Patna. They staged a vigorous protest at Kargil Chowk, placing the deceased's body in the middle of the road. Protesters accused the police of attempting to cover up what they believe to be a planned murder rather than a suicide. The demonstration caused significant traffic disruptions at one of Patna's busiest intersections, leading to considerable inconvenience for the public.
Family Alleges Rape and Murder
The grieving family has accused the hostel owner, police, and medical personnel of colluding to suppress evidence of rape and murder. They assert that the visible injuries on the girl indicate she was attacked and killed. However, law enforcement and medical staff have suggested that initial investigations point towards illness and potential drug overdose. This conflicting narrative has intensified public outrage.
Police Deny Confirmation of Sexual Assault
According to police reports, there has been no confirmation of sexual assault as of now. They revealed that a urine test conducted on the victim showed traces of sleeping pills. Amid rising anger, the family requested video recording of the autopsy at PMCH, which was later agreed upon. A medical board was established to oversee the autopsy process, leading to the family's decision to lift the blockade at Kargil Chowk.
Awaiting Final Report
The police are currently awaiting the final report, which they suggest may indicate suicide. ASP Abhinav Kumar stated that a medical board supervised the entire autopsy process, which was fully recorded. While the police have indicated that the evidence leans towards suicide, they will refrain from drawing any conclusions until the final autopsy report is available. Authorities also resorted to mild force to disperse the protesters and clear the area.
