IAF Confirms Loss of Two Brave Pilots

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has confirmed the tragic loss of two pilots following the crash of a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The incident occurred on Thursday evening while the aircraft was engaged in a routine training mission. The IAF identified the pilots as Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar. This morning, the IAF reported that the fighter jet went down in a hilly area approximately 60 kilometers from the Jorhat airbase. In an official statement, the IAF noted, 'The Su-30MKI, which was on a training mission, crashed in the Karbi Anglong region, about 60 km from Jorhat. Search operations are currently underway.'


Details of the Incident

After taking off from Jorhat, the last communication with the Sukhoi occurred at 7:42 PM. The Sukhoi Su-30 MKI, introduced into the Air Force in the early 2000s, is regarded as one of the most capable frontline combat aircraft. The IAF currently operates a fleet of over 200 Sukhoi jets.
