Tragic Collision on Jodhpur National Highway Claims Five Lives
Fatal Road Accident in Rajasthan
Jaipur: A tragic incident occurred on the Jodhpur National Highway in the Balotra district of Rajasthan, resulting in the deaths of five pilgrims and leaving three others in critical condition, according to police reports on Monday.
The accident took place late Sunday night as the victims were returning from the Padasla Bhomiaji temple located in Osian. Their SUV collided with an unidentified heavy vehicle near Bhandiyawas-Kudi around midnight. Police confirmed that eight individuals from Kanod village in the Baytu area were traveling in the SUV.
The impact of the collision was so intense that the vehicle was severely damaged. Two young men trapped inside the SUV lost their lives at the scene, requiring a prolonged rescue operation to extract them. Another injured pilgrim later died while receiving treatment at Nahata District Hospital in Balotra. The remaining five injured individuals were transferred to Jodhpur due to their serious injuries, where two more succumbed to their injuries, raising the death toll to five.
The deceased have been identified as Kishan, son of Sheraram; Bhavesh, son of Kalaram; Revant Marudhar; Swaroop Godara; and Bharat Godara, all residents of Kanod.
The three survivors are currently receiving medical care in Jodhpur, with their conditions reported as critical. Local residents who heard the crash quickly responded to the scene and notified the police. Rescue teams, along with villagers, collaborated to free the trapped individuals before transporting the injured to the hospital.
According to police, the SUV was en route from Jodhpur to Balotra after the group had completed their prayers at the Padasla Bhomiaji temple.
The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the mortuary at Nahata District Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Authorities have initiated a search for the unidentified heavy vehicle involved in the crash and are investigating the precise circumstances surrounding the accident.
Police officials stated that further actions will be determined following the completion of post-mortem reports and identification processes.
