Severe Accident on Jaipur-Agra Highway

A devastating incident occurred on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway (NH-21) near the village of Jhar in the Bassi police jurisdiction on the evening of February 28, 2026, around 4:30 PM. A speeding car, carrying three young men and traveling from Todabhim to Jaipur, lost control, crashed through the concrete divider, and collided head-on with a private bus that was en route from Jaipur to Nadoti/Gangapur.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely wrecked, resulting in the immediate death of one of the passengers, Rahul Gurjar, a resident of Nangal Lat, Todabhim. The other two occupants, Lavkush and Dilkhush, sustained serious injuries and were promptly transported to SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where their condition remains critical. Notably, the airbags deployed only on the driver's side, leading to more severe injuries for the other passengers.

Following the accident, significant traffic congestion ensued on the highway, lasting for approximately an hour. Local authorities and police utilized cranes to remove the damaged vehicles and restore traffic flow. Although the passengers on the bus experienced panic, the vehicle itself sustained minimal damage, and no serious injuries were reported among them.

According to police investigations:

  • Primary cause: Excessive speed and loss of vehicle control by the driver.

  • Initial reports attribute the incident to speeding and potential negligence.

  • The Bassi police have filed a case and initiated an investigation.
