A tragic accident occurred on Thursday morning near Pandoh Dam in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving two others critically injured. The incident involved a head-on collision between a private bus and a car.
The crash took place on the Mandi–Kullu National Highway, where the two vehicles collided with significant force, causing extensive damage to the car.
Reports indicate that there were four occupants in the car at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, two individuals lost their lives at the scene, while the other two were severely injured and transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The deceased have been identified as Shashank Sharma, 23, son of Vinod Kumar from Majwan in Baldwara, and Gayatri Devi, 22, daughter of Rakesh Kumar from Rehali Tanda in Mandi district.
The injured parties, Kashmir and Diksha, are reported to be in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment.
According to police reports, the private bus was traveling from Mandi to Kullu, while the car was approaching from the opposite direction when the collision occurred near Pandoh.
Vinod Kumar, the Superintendent of Police in Mandi, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been initiated. He noted that the cause of the accident is still under investigation, with overspeeding or negligence being potential factors. The injured individuals are receiving the necessary medical care.
