Fatal Truck Accident in Mandi District

A devastating accident occurred on Thursday morning when two trucks collided head-on within the Hanogi Tunnel on the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane highway in Mandi district, resulting in four fatalities and seven injuries.

The incident took place when an Eicher truck traveling from Mandi towards Kullu struck a Tata truck that was approaching from the opposite direction. The force of the collision was so intense that three individuals lost their lives instantly, while a fourth succumbed to injuries later at Medical College Nerchowk.

Medical personnel at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Nagwain confirmed the deaths of three victims. The seven injured individuals were transported to Medical College Nerchowk and Zonal Hospital Kullu for medical attention, with two of them being referred to Nerchowk Medical College due to their critical condition.

Authorities are still working to identify the deceased and the injured.

DSP Padhar Lokendra Negi verified the occurrence of the accident and indicated that an investigation has been initiated. Initial reports suggest that excessive speed may have contributed to the crash.

The collision caused significant traffic disruptions on this busy highway as emergency response teams conducted rescue operations.
