Heartbreaking Events Following a Child's Tragic Death

On Thursday evening, just three hours after the funeral of a 10-year-old girl who fell victim to sexual assault and murder, her mother gave birth to a son. Family members, with heavy hearts, shared that the girl often expressed her desire to have a brother to her mother, making the situation even more sorrowful as the brother arrived after her untimely death.

According to police reports, the accused, a constable named Abhishek Yadav, aged 35, kidnapped the girl from the district hospital on July 28. Allegations state that he took her to a cremation ground outside the city, assaulted her, and then bound her hands before throwing her into a river. The autopsy revealed multiple injuries on the girl's body, confirming that she drowned.

The girl's family, originally from Azamgarh, had been residing in Gorakhpur for the past four years. She had gone to the district hospital to deliver food to her older sister who was admitted there. CCTV footage captured the moment the constable met the girl and took her away on his motorcycle. Police reviewed nearly 200 CCTV recordings to identify the suspect using the vehicle's registration number.

The accused was apprehended on July 29 and reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. The victim's body was recovered approximately 36 hours later, guided by the accused's directions. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Kaustubh confirmed that the constable has been dismissed from service.

Charges have been filed against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant laws. The SSP also mentioned that proceedings under the National Security Act (NSA) are being initiated against the accused.
