Devastating Collision on Expressway

A horrific road accident occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway early Friday morning, involving a private double-decker sleeper bus traveling from Kanpur to Gurugram and a tanker. The impact of the collision was so severe that the bus caught fire immediately, causing panic among the sleeping passengers. Tragically, both the bus driver and conductor lost their lives at the scene, while around 24 passengers sustained serious burns and injuries. This incident took place near the 46 km pillar marker in the jurisdiction of the Matsena police station in Firozabad.


Dr. Piyush Gangwar from the Shikohabad government hospital reported, "We have received a total of 15 patients from the bus accident... so far, there are no confirmed fatalities."


Chaos Erupts in Matsena Area

Following the accident, chaos ensued in the Matsena area, prompting the injured to be referred to Saifai and Firozabad Medical College for treatment. The collision occurred specifically near the 46 km pillar marker on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, where the private sleeper bus collided with a tanker. The force of the crash ignited the bus, filling the scene with screams and cries of distress. Reports indicate that the driver and conductor perished, while nearly two dozen passengers were injured.


Emergency services, including police and fire departments, quickly arrived at the scene to manage the fire and initiate rescue operations. The injured were transported to Firozabad Medical College and Saifai Medical College for medical attention.


City Magistrate's Statement on the Incident

City Magistrate Vinod Kumar Pandey commented, "A very tragic incident has occurred; a double-decker bus collided with a tanker and caught fire, resulting in injuries to 15 to 20 individuals. Five people have been admitted to the trauma center, while 15 others are receiving treatment at hospitals in Shikohabad and Saifai. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver and conductor have died."


Before the arrival of police, fire brigade, and official rescue teams, local residents and passersby were the first to initiate rescue efforts. While firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, police managed the traffic congestion caused by the accident. It is noteworthy that vehicle movement on the expressway was temporarily disrupted due to this incident, but officials successfully cleared the route and restored normal traffic flow.
