Tragic Bus Accident Claims Seven Lives in Himachal Pradesh
Fatal Bus Plunge in Sirmaur District
On Friday, a devastating accident in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district resulted in the deaths of at least seven individuals, with many others injured. The incident occurred near Haripurdhar when a private passenger bus, known as Jeet Coach, veered off the road and fell approximately 300 meters into a gorge.
The bus was traveling from Shimla to Kupvi at the time of the tragedy. Local residents were quick to respond, reaching the scene and notifying the police and district officials. Rescue teams were dispatched promptly, initiating a large-scale operation to assist despite the challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions.
Vinay Kumar, the MLA for Renukaji and President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress, confirmed the incident and expressed profound sorrow over the fatalities. He described the accident as deeply distressing and urged party members in the Haripurdhar area to assist the administration with rescue and relief efforts.
Kumar stated, "This is an extremely tragic incident. I request all Congress workers in the Haripurdhar zone to extend full cooperation to the administration in rescue efforts. Standing with the victims and their families in this hour of grief is our moral responsibility."
Injured passengers have been transported to local hospitals for treatment, with some reported to be in critical condition. While the official cause of the accident is still under investigation, initial reports indicate that the bus may have lost control while navigating a sharp curve on the narrow mountain road.
The Chief Minister and senior officials have conveyed their condolences to the families affected and promised all necessary support to the victims. An inquiry into the incident has been ordered by the district administration.
Rescue operations continued late into the evening as authorities worked diligently to recover bodies and clear debris from the gorge.
