Tragic Bridge Collapse in Hamirpur Claims Lives of Six Workers

A tragic incident in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, has led to the collapse of an under-construction bridge, resulting in the deaths of six workers. The disaster occurred during a severe storm, with several others injured and trapped. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences and directed swift rescue efforts. As the State Disaster Response Force works to clear the debris, the identities of the deceased have been confirmed. This heartbreaking event has left the community in mourning, prompting prayers for the victims and their families.
 

Devastating Incident in Hamirpur District

A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Hamirpur district in Uttar Pradesh. Early Friday morning, during a severe storm, a large slab from an under-construction bridge collapsed over the Betwa River. This tragic event resulted in the deaths of six workers who were trapped under the debris, while three others sustained serious injuries. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sorrow over the incident.


According to police reports, the collapse occurred around 3 AM in the Lalapura police station area, specifically between the villages of Parsani and Kurara Kandaur.


Slab Falls on Sleeping Workers

Officials indicated that several workers were resting on the upper section of the slab when it unexpectedly fell. The deceased have been identified as Lokendra (22), Kuldeep Nishad (19), Sawant Yadav (28), Sabhajit (30), Pushpendra Chauhan (34), and Rajesh Pal (42). Additionally, Awadhesh Nishad, Kallu Yadav, and Rajesh Nishad were injured after being trapped under the pillar.


Rajesh Kumar Saroj, the Lalapura police station chief, reported that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team successfully rescued the three injured individuals and transported them to the district hospital.


Rescue Operations and Administrative Response

The authorities confirmed that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations. Saroj mentioned that efforts are ongoing to clear the debris to ensure no one else is trapped beneath it. The Chief Minister took to social media to express his condolences, stating, "The loss of life in this unfortunate accident over the Betwa River in Hamirpur is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. My sympathies are with the grieving families." He also prayed for the departed souls and instructed the district administration to expedite relief and rescue operations in collaboration with the SDRF.
