Assault Leads to Death of Musician in New Delhi

New Delhi: A 54-year-old musician from Manipur tragically lost his life following an alleged assault by a group of delivery personnel and dhaba workers. This incident occurred early Monday morning when the victim confronted them about their loud behavior and drinking outside his residence in Kilokari village, according to officials.

Authorities have taken seven individuals into custody and detained one minor in connection with the incident.

The Sunlight Colony police station received an emergency call reporting the assault on C Vikram Singh, a long-time resident of Kilokari. Initial investigations indicated that Singh, a member of the Meitei community, objected to the disruptive actions of the group, which led to a violent confrontation where he was severely beaten.

Singh's son, Yaiphaba, quickly transported him to Holy Family Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The police have launched a thorough investigation into the events surrounding the attack and Singh's subsequent death.

The North East Students Society at Delhi University (NESSDU) expressed their condolences, honoring Singh as a 'respected Manipuri musician.'

Reports suggest that Singh went outside his apartment to address the noise created by a group of six men. After asking them to quiet down, he was reportedly assaulted, resulting in critical injuries that led to his death.

NESSDU condemned the incident as a 'senseless act of violence' and called for a 'swift, fair, and thorough investigation' to ensure accountability for those involved.

The police have identified the suspects as Bharat Kumar (19), Pramod (26), Ramzan Khan (22), Deepanshu (21), Mohan Vishwakarma (32), Vijay (36), Mannu (26), along with one juvenile. All suspects are reported to be employed at various dhabas and food stalls.
