Tragic Accidents Claim Lives of 11 in Rudraprayag and Tehri Districts

Fatal Incidents in Uttarakhand


Rudraprayag. On Thursday, two separate accidents in the Tehri and Rudraprayag districts resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals.

Among the deceased, eight were returning from a funeral in Rishikesh. The accidents are attributed to the vehicle's high speed and the driver's drowsiness. Two individuals sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to the hospital.

The Governor, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh, along with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressed their condolences to the victims and their families following the tragic events.

The first accident occurred around 2:30 PM on the Chamba-Koti Colony motor road near Nail village in Tehri. A Max camper lost control, crashing through a cement parapet and plunging approximately 300 meters into a gorge.

Ten passengers were returning from the last rites of Premlal, a resident of Chakreda Ghanasali, whose father, Sampat Lal, had passed away. Police and SDRF teams conducted a rescue operation to retrieve all the injured. Uttam and Ankit were hospitalized at the district hospital in Bauradi.

The Chief Minister has instructed the district administration to ensure prompt and adequate medical treatment for the injured.

District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal, SSP Shweta Chaubey, Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay, and Ghanasali MLA Shakti Lal Shah visited the accident site.

The second accident took place on the Bhiri-Kakola motor road in the Augustmuni block, where a Bolero vehicle lost control and fell into a gorge. Three individuals, including the driver, lost their lives in this incident. The news of the accident was reported 12 hours later, indicating it occurred late Wednesday night. The Ukhimath police and SDRF teams worked together to recover the bodies from the gorge.
