New Delhi: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow regarding the tragic accident in Punjab that resulted in multiple fatalities. He announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of each deceased individual and Rs 50,000 for those who sustained injuries.


The unfortunate incident occurred when a pick-up truck carrying passengers collided with a larger vehicle near Janga Wala Mour on the Ferozepur-Fazilka highway, leading to the deaths of nine individuals and injuring several others.


Expressing his condolences on social media, Modi stated, 'I am deeply saddened to learn about the accident in Ferozepur district, Punjab. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the families who have lost loved ones, and I wish a swift recovery to the injured.'


Additionally, the Prime Minister confirmed that the compensation would be sourced from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, aimed at providing immediate support to the affected families.
