Noida: Authorities have detained a real estate developer linked to the tragic death of a 27-year-old software engineer, whose vehicle fell into a water-filled pit at a construction site in Sector 150, Noida, as reported by officials.


The arrested individual, Abhay Kumar, is associated with MZ Wiztown Planners and is one of the suspects in this case, according to Hemant Upadhyay, the Additional Commissioner of Police for Greater Noida.


The incident occurred early Saturday morning when Yuvraj Mehta's car skidded due to heavy fog, crashed through a drain boundary, and plunged into a deep pit filled with water, which was excavated for the basement of a commercial building under construction.


Following the incident, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two real estate companies, MZ Wiztown Planners and Lotus Greens, based on a complaint from the victim's father, Raj Kumar Mehta, who accused local authorities of negligence and demanded accountability.


While Kumar from Wiztown Planners has been taken into custody, there has been no official update regarding actions against the other implicated company as of Tuesday afternoon.
