Tragic Accident in Kota: Young Man Found Dead in Canal

A tragic incident unfolded in Kota, Rajasthan, where a 24-year-old man, Lokesh Kumawat, was found dead in a canal after accidentally falling in while washing his face. Discovery of the Body

On Friday morning, the body of a 24-year-old man was discovered in the main canal of the Kunhadi area in Kota, Rajasthan, according to police reports.


Identification of the Victim

The deceased has been identified as Lokesh Kumawat, a resident of Jaipur district.


Background of the Victim

Kumawat had been preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) for the past three to four years and was residing in a hostel in the Kunhadi area of Kota.


Circumstances of the Incident

The incident occurred on Thursday evening when Kumawat was returning to the hostel after visiting local picnic spots with friends.


According to Circle Inspector (CI) Mangallal Yadav, around 6 PM, he stopped by the main canal to wash his face and accidentally fell into the water, being swept away by the strong current.


Search and Recovery Efforts

Immediately following the incident, a search operation was launched.


CI Yadav reported that the body was later found in the Nanta area, approximately 400-500 meters away, and initial investigations suggest it was an accidental drowning.


Family's Response

After the post-mortem, the police handed over the body to the family, who expressed no doubts regarding the accidental nature of the death and did not raise any allegations.


Inspector Chetan Sharma mentioned that a case has been registered under Section 194 of the Indian Citizen Safety Code.
