Tragic Accident in Jammu and Kashmir Claims Five Lives

A devastating vehicle accident in Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir, has led to the loss of five lives and left one person critically injured. The incident occurred when a private SUV veered off the road and fell into a gorge. Authorities have confirmed that several passengers succumbed to their injuries, while the sole survivor remains in serious condition. In response, local officials have pledged financial support to the victims' families. This tragic event has drawn condolences from prominent leaders, highlighting the community's commitment to assist those affected.
 

Fatal Incident in Ramban District

A tragic accident occurred in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir when a private passenger vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a 600-foot deep gorge, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and leaving one person critically injured, officials reported on Saturday.


According to authorities, the SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) crashed late Friday night near Senabathi in the Ukhral Pogal area.


They stated that a passenger named Tauqeer Ahmed, aged 20, died at the scene, while three of the five seriously injured individuals—Mohammad Rafiq (40), Abdul Lateef (40), and Ejaz Ahmed (20)—succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital.


Officials further noted that Shakeel Ahmed, aged 24, passed away this morning at a hospital in Srinagar, while the sole survivor, Yawar Ahmed (25), remains in critical condition.


Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and Union Minister Jitendra Singh expressed their condolences regarding the accident and assured necessary assistance to the injured and the victims' families.


Government Assistance for Victims' Families

Mohammad Ilyas Khan, the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, announced a financial aid of one lakh rupees for the families of the deceased and 25,000 rupees for the injured individual. He mentioned in a post on the social media platform 'X' that every possible support would be extended to the affected families.
